Roadside sensor networks that track truck movements is the speciality of GenLogs, a Washington, DC-based company, which has now raised more than $6 million in Seed financing, led by Autotech Ventures and Steel Atlas, with additional investment participation from Venture53, TitletownTech, Plug and Play Ventures, BBQ Capital, ASC Ventures and JHH Ventures.
Plans for Growth
The company plans to use the money to scale its network of sensors and its suite of computer vision models in order to give customers a godlike ability to predict truck movements in near real time.
Technology and Data Collection
GenLogs, under CEO Ryan Joyce, has developed a nationwide passive data collection infrastructure of roadside sensors which gather near-real-time information on the destination of trucks from vehicle ID (UISDOT and MC) numbers, equipment types, and logo and other data; all devices need is the ability to receive a small amount of ‘pico power signal’, meaning no device is required to be installed, app integrated, etc. The data appears in an easy-to-view dashboard or sent to a freight broker’s TMS via API.
Comprehensive Industry Insights
GenLogs also has tractor movement data, plus more than 250,000 shipper locations, including their lanes and load volumes – giving freight brokers a clear picture of where trucks are moving to and from so they can find new business and make sure that their customers’ loads have access to a network of trucks that can handle more freight.
